Queens County Becomes More Wheelchair Accessible

V.O.N. have added a van to help seniors get out into the community.

It’s part of their Seeley Shuttle service which has been running since 2007.

Stephanie Lohnes, Site Manager for the V.O.N., says their clients need this service.

“There’s definitely a need in Queens county for more accessible transportation” says Lohnes. “We currently seem to be the only place that people are contacting.”

Lohnes says they will continue to offer people rides in their car as well as the new van.

She says they have enough volunteers to run both vehicles.

The van is expected to be up and running by mid-June.
