Province Reduces Electrical Use By 1.2 Percent: Efficiency NS

New numbers released this week peg Nova Scotia as a green province.

Efficiency Nova Scotia’s annual report shows the province lowered its energy use by 1.2 per cent.

For the fourth straight year they’ve met targets set by the Utility and Review Board and managed to stay on budget.

Also, over 1,300 low income households lowered their consumption due to the Homewarming service.

The program is part of a 10-year plan by the government to upgrade all low-income homes.

All this added up to a savings of $110-million a year on power bills.

CEO of Efficiency Nova Scotia, Stephen MacDonald, says he expects those savings to grow to $180-million by 2020.
