Early childhood educators are getting a raise.
Minister Karen Casey announced today $6.6 million dollars in new child care funding.
Half of that money will go to bring the wages of childhood educators up to the national average.
Casey says the review of the early childhood education system is long overdue.
“We want to do the right thing for the families and for the educators but most importantly for the kids who can benefit from an early childhood and daycare experience.”
Other parts of the plan address the need for more spaces and more inclusion for children with special needs.
Remaining changes will be rolled out over the next five years.
