More people took in our national parks this year. Nova Scotia saw attendance go up 8% this year, that’s 2% higher than the national average.
Director of Visitor Experience for Parks Canada, Ed Jager, says people are looking for ways to get away from their electronic devices.
He says they’re working on ways to draw people into nature.
“It, sort of, behooves Parks Canada to think of more and better ways to help people understand that there are amazing experiences available that are truly authentic and real,” he says, “and they’re some of the best things about the country they live in.”
Jager says that doesn’t mean technology can’t help us get there.
He says wi-fi is available at about 30 sites nation-wide.
