Lunenburg Removes Parking Regulations For Home-Based Businesses

Lunenburg council voted to remove all parking regulations for small-scale businesses.

The town heard from home-based business owners last night about the inpracticality of the by-law requiring parking spaces for customers.

Anna Shoub is happy about the change but thinks there’s more work to be done.

“We have a land use by-law that needs to be studied and see if there are any other places it’s not supportive to small business.”

It was a 4-1 vote by council.

Councillor John McGee thinks their support has been misunderstood.

We’ve been lambasted for I think, completely unfairly, as far as whether we are supportive of home-based businesses or not.”

Shoub says a letter writing campaign and several meetings with council led to the final decision to remove the parking requirements.
