Big Tancook Elementary School To Begin Review

Big Tancook Elementary School is under review for the second time in five years.

The School Options Committee will begin weighing the pros and cons today of keeping the only school on the island open.

The South Shore Regional School Board’s superintendent, Geoff Cainen says the governing board has some tough decisions to make.

“It’s a matter of making sure the process is followed as closely as possible and we remain transparent,” said Cainen.

The only two students attending the school are expected to graduate this spring leaving one student enroled for the fall of 2016.

The board is expected to make a decision by the spring.
