New Ross Recognized With Lieutenant Governor’s Award

Who says community spirit goes unnoticed?

That’s not the case for New Ross, here in Lunenburg County.

They’ve been recognized by the Lieutenant Governor in part for their upcoming 200th Anniversary celebrations.

Debbie Reeves submitted the application hoping to raise awareness about what they have to offer.

“You know, we do have a lot to be proud of and to celebrate,” she says. “So we thought this was a good year and a good time to display that.”

She says the exposure is great for the community.

“It will attract more visitors, people who will want to move to our community, who will want to bring businesses to our community,” she says, “because they like who we are and know they’ll get help when they settle here.”

New Glasgow, Upper Hammonds Plains as well as Gabarus, Cape Breton were also winners.

Reeves says the prize will be a representation of New Ross on a piece of Nova Scotian crystal.

She says the Lieutenant Governor will present the award during Anniversary celebrations on August 6th.
