Shelburne is preparing to become a little greener.
The town is celebrating National Tree Day on Wednesday by planting up to six trees.
They will be planted around Water Street and the downtown area.
Mayor Karen Mattatall says they are trying to restore the number of trees.
“We used to have a beautiful canopy over the street in Shelburne and if we can start working towards replacing them because many of the trees, of course, are gone.”
The Cox family will also be recognized for their contribution to the town.
A ceremony will be held at 3 p.m. near the Osprey Arts Centre and the Muir-Cox Shipyard.
