NS Government Provides Another $1.5-Million To Nova Star

The Nova Scotia government has provided another $1.5-million for the Yarmouth ferry.

The province has given Nova Star Cruises $11.1-million of the $13-million it promised to the ferry operator this year.

Transportation Minister Geoff MacLellan says they make decisions based on what they know.

“We have all the financial disclosure, so we see all the books, all the financial statements, the indication of cash flow. We know exactly what Nova Star requires to keep operating.”

The province is evaluating three new providers, along with Nova Star, with a deadline to submit proposals by the end of Friday.

MacLellan says they are on track to make a decision on the 2016 ferry operator by mid-October.
