The recent closure of the Bridgewater Memorial Arena will be a boost for the Lunenburg Community Centre Arena.
The South Shore Minor Hockey Association has increased its ice times in Lunenburg.
Recreation Director Robin Scott says they couldn’t be happier.
They’ve scheduled more than double the number of ice time hours.
“We went from averaging 13 hours per week to 29 hours. We’ve also rented Saturday nights out to the Park View boys hockey team. We thought we would get more men’s leagues, but we’ve got all we can handle right now.”
Scott adds, “All three arenas were suffering when we were all open.”
He doesn’t anticipate any expansion needed and feels they are sufficiently meeting the demand.
