Salvation Army Expects Greater Need This Christmas

The Salvation Army anticipates more people in the community will be in need this holiday season.

Major Wilson Sutton says they helped more than 160 families as well as singles and couples last year.

This year, he says demand will be higher as people struggle financially to make ends meet.

“A downturn in the economy is a contributing factor. And every time I go to the grocery store I am amazed at the cost of food,” said Sutton.

Sutton is asking people to register early so they can get an accurate assessment of the need in the community.

Registration forms are available at the Salvation Army in Bridgewater and area food bank locations.
