Student Video Contest Focusing On School Bus Safety

Students are encouraged to get their video cameras ready.

The Nova Scotia School Board Association and Safety Services are working on a school bus safety campaign.

It’s focusing on drivers passing buses when their red lights are flashing.

Spokesperson Trish Smith says it’s a chance for kids to send a message to drivers.

“Kids of all ages from grades primary to grade 12 are invited to create a video reminding motorists why they should stop for the school bus because it’s their future that is on the line.”

There were over 300 red light violations in Nova Scotia in April and May.

The deadline to submit videos is Friday.

They should be under one minute, 30 seconds. Winning videos could receive $500.
