University Students Talk Sexual Assault, Harrassment

The Dalhousie Student Union says it’s the only service of it’s kind in Nova Scotia.

A sexual assault and harrassment phone line has been set up for students at Dal and King’s College in Halifax.

Vice-President Internal, Kaitlynne Lowe, says it’s a 24 hour, seven day a week service that provides information.

“They have someone else to talk to and we’re able to go through different options that are available to them.”

Lowe says the phone line is one more way that students are working to combat rape culture.

It will only last until October 14 unless the university commits funding to the service.

Students who are in need of someone to talk to can call the phone line at (902) 425-1066.
