UPDATE: Power Outages Across The Province After Nor’Easter

Nova Scotia Power is still working to restore power to the remaining 5,800 customers across the province.

Around 1,000 more customers have been affected by outages since the storm passed yesterday.

According to a press release, overnight’s restoration was put on pause for Western Nova Scotia to respond to a number of unanticipated, high-priority safety situations, including downed wires and fire response calls.

More than 150 external powerline technicians have joined the restoration effort this week from Nova Scotia, New Brunswick, Prince Edward Island, Quebec and Florida.

That brings the total to more than 800 people working to restore power across the province, including powerline technicians, forestry crews, damage assessors, engineers, wiring inspectors, safety specialists, customer care representatives, work planners and supervisors.

Nova Scotia Power is encouraging customers without power to drop in to one of its Customer Service Centres for information on their outage, a hot beverage and a place to charge electronic devices.

The centres are open from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m.

1. Kentville – 3 Calkin Drive

2. Chester – 96 Valley Road

3. Stellarton – 26 Bridge Avenue

In their press release, NS Power says they can’t “restore power to customers who sustained damage to their electrical equipment until they have an electrician make repairs. For example, if a customer’s meter mast is damaged, a certified electrician needs to make repairs before Nova Scotia Power can safely restore power.”

Customers can get their latest estimated restoration time by calling Nova Scotia Power at 1-877-428-6004 or by visiting outagemap.nspower.ca.

If you see a downed wire, please stay away and report it by calling 1-877-428-6004.
