They’re Slimy And Slippery And A Growing Business For Yarmouth County Couple

A Yarmouth County couple is growing and expanding their business ‘Growing Green Earthworm Castings’.

Yes, worm excrement.

But it’s the very nutrient-rich soil produced by the worms castings that keep Neil and Shannon LeBlanc busy at their Wedgeport company.

They ship their product across North America.

Their castings are certified organic.

The European and African nightcrawlers produce a soil mix that’s sought after not just by organic flower and vegetable farmers.

Neil LeBlanc says another market opened up to them.

“With the legalization of cannibas coming soon, an opportunity arose. We didn’t get into it for that reason, but anybody who is going to be growing cannibas organically, one of the key components is worm castings. We already sell some castings to OrganiGram in Moncton.”

He says they’re already selling their worm castings to a large organic cannibas facility in New Brunswick.

You can hear more on the Y95 CJLS Weekender this Sunday morning.
