NS Bantam Hockey Championships This Weekend In Liverpool

Queens Place Emera Centre will be hopping this weekend.

The best bantam hockey players in the province will battle it out to win the 2018 Nova Scotia Major Bantam Provincial Championships.

Seven teams including the host Western Hurricanes will be competing.

Western Hurricanes President Kevin Benjamin says he expects the games will be exciting.

“This is the top level of hockey for 13 and 14 year-olds in the province. I’m looking forward to a very competitive weekend.”

Benjamin says the team earned their fourth seed in the tournament.

He says it shows the commitment from the players and their parents.

“The region in which we draw our players from is from Hubbards right through to Yarmouth. We have players that they’re travelling well over an hour each way to practice, and we practice twice a week.”

The events kicks of at noon Thursday.

A total of 18 games will be played before the championship match takes place Sunday at 1:00pm.
