A local partnership hopes bringing various groups together will improve life in the region.
The Lunenburg Queens Volunteer Partnership is holding a series of meetings to gather different community organizations in the same room.
Organizer Tara Jaskowiak says the “Stronger Together” meetings are an opportunity for the members to introduce themselves and perhaps help each other overcome obstacles they may be facing.
“They can pick up the phone and if they’re working on some similar issues or if they’ve heard of something maybe somebody was struggling with, they’ve met that person. They may be more willing to reach out and ask for support.”
Jaskowiak says it’s important to get people out of their silos and working together.
“Those connections with people tend to go beyond those two hours together in that room. People are following up with each other. They’re doing some real-life, real-time problem solving as well.”
Jaskowiak says at past meetings information has been exchanged around volunteer recruitment, and how to access various funding.
The meeting at the North Queens Business Hub in Caledonia begins at 6:30 this evening.
