Sunday Morning Sports: October 18

– Another win for the Park View Panthers boys hockey team. They crushed Horton 8-1 last night.

– The Charlies Pizza South Shore Mustangs lost 4-3 to the Cape Breton West Islanders. Connor Lowden scored twice for the Mustangs while Alex Miller added the other goal. Keagan Larade stopped 37 shots in the loss. The two teams play again today at 1 p.m. at the Clearwater Seafoods Arena.

– The South Shore Lumberjacks fell 5-2 to the Amherst Ramblers. Cray Roberge and Damon MacDonald scored for the ‘Jacks, who split the home and home series with the Ramblers.

– A 4-2 win last night for the Liverpool Privateers over the Cumberland Blues in Nova Scotia Junior ‘B’ hockey. Luke Spicer, Connor Nauss and Alex Nauss scored while Liverpool’s fourth goal scorer wasn’t announced. Jacob Dempsey recorded the win for the Privateers, making 32 saves.

– The Halifax Mooseheads skated to a 7-4 win over Acadie-Bathurst last night at Scotiabank Centre. The Mooseheads are in Moncton this afternoon for a game against the Wildcats.

– The Toronto Blue Jays find themselves down 2-0 in the American League Championships Series. Kansas City rallying yesterday for a 6-3 win. Game three goes Monday night in Toronto. In other baseball action, the New York Mets struck first in the NLCS, doubling the Chicago Cubs 4-2. Game two goes tonight.

– In the NHL, the Habs won their sixth straight, 4-1 over Detroit. Connor McDavid scored twice and added an assist as Edmonton beat Calgary 5-2, the Leafs lost to Pittsburgh 2-1, Ottawa lost 4-3 in a shootout to Nashville.

– In the CFL, Calgary were 27-15 winners over Toronto while Edmonton won their sixth in a row; a 26-23 overtime victory over BC.
