The Lunenburg and District Fire Department is sporting a new vehicle.
The E-One Quint ladder truck arrived in town late last week after an engineer drove it from Quebec.
Chief Darren Romkey says they needed to replace their old ladder truck, which was 20 years-old.
“Technology has changed quite a bit over the last 20 years and again, with a 20 year-old truck it’s not as reliable as it used to be. You start getting break downs and everything and to try fix it or upgrade it got quite costly.”
The new truck includes a 78-foot ladder and cost $850,000.
It was funded by the department, the town and two district fire commissions.
Training is underway for members and the truck should be in service by the end of next week.
