New Medical Training Resourse Unveiled

Doctors in rural Nova Scotia will soon have a new learning resource. The health services simulator truck was unveiled this morning in Halifax.
Manager of health services, Mark Walker says the simulator will be able to move to where it’s needed.

“It will be mobile,” he said. “It will travel across the province and deliver simulation activities in smaller communities as well as in larger ones.”

Walker says the truck is equipped with many tools including a life like patient.

“You could liken it to a doll,” said Walker. ” It’s a full scale replica of a human that’s the same size as a normal adult male. It does things like sweat and breathe. You can listen to its lung sounds and it will respond accordingly, very similar to the way a normal patient would.”

Walker says the the simulator still need some final touches but they expect to have it on the road in the new year.
