MP’s who lost Monday night will receive pretty generous severance packages according to figures released by the Canadian Taxpayers Federation.
Atlantic Director, Kevin Lacey, says most of which will be paid for by the taxpayer.
“These pensions over the lifetime of these MP’s will cost over $200-million; severances just over $12-million that we will be shelling out for these politicians who were defeated.”
The Taxpayers Federation reports Gerald Keddy of South Shore – St. Margaret’s receives no severance money but will get an annual pension of $96,864.
Greg Kerr of West Nova receives severance of $53,259 and a pension in excess of $36, 291 yearly.
Both of them announced they would be retiring from politics and did not re-offer in this election.
