Bingo halls, bowling centres and other community places are getting a break from the province. Service Nova Scotia Minister Mark Furey announced Friday operators will no longer need a licence to hold events. The change will save licence holders about a hundred dollars a year.
Currently there are more than 400 licence holders in Nova Scotia. That means about $40,000 dollars of revenue per year for the province. Furey says operators will still have to work with the fire marshal to make sure their space is safe for events. But he says getting rid of the licence will save time and help make fundraising easier.
