More Beds For Vets

Good news for veterans in Nova Scotia.

Fifteen new beds have opened up at Camp Hill.

The announcement comes after a Norwegian vet made international headlines with his struggle to be admitted to the hospital.

MLA Derrick Mombourquette, Chair of the Veterans Affairs Committee, says a new agreement between Veterans affairs Canada and the health authority should prevent a similar situation in future.

“The thing is to keep the lines of communication open and do everything we can to support veterans in the province and really right across the country,” he says.

Mombourquette says the criteria for who can get access to Camp Hill hasn’t changed.

But he adds they want to make sure they’re helping as many veterans as possible.
