The last nine months have been a whirlwind for the South Shore – St. Margaret’s member of parliament.
Bernadette Jordan won her riding in a landslide by 18,000 votes in last year’s federal election.

She says her first season in Ottawa has been both challenging and rewarding.
“Making everyone happy is just never going to happen,” she says, “we just have too many differences of opinion. However, having said that, the majority of people I talk to are quite thrilled with the changes coming forward.”
Since being elected she’s joined three committees, become chair of the Atlantic Caucus, and introduced a motion about derelict vessels in the House of Commons.
Jordan has been busy, but she says she wouldn’t have it any other way.
“I didn’t get elected to sit around. You know, the whole point of me being there is to be the voice for this region. So that’s what I’m going to be.”
Parliament is done for the summer but Jordan is still working full hours.
She plans to spend time reconnecting with her colleagues in other levels of government.
