A giant pumpkin grower in the Annapolis Valley ranks in the top five in Canada.
Brian Kenneally’s over-sized gourd of New Minas weighed in at 1,054 pounds giving him the 4th heaviest pumpkin in the country.
When it comes to breaking records in the sport there are some things out of your control.
Kenneally says the Americans and Europeans often have mother nature on their side.
“They’ve got the weather to keep the growing. We had a real cold year this year. That puts you behind. You’ve got to have lots of sun and you’ve got to have warm nights.
Kenneally’s got his sights set on setting a Canadian record next year.
The seeds are planted and he hopes to yield a pumpkin weighing over 1,800 pounds.
