Municipality Of Lunenburg Council Is Downsizing

Council for the Municipality of Lunenburg is getting smaller.

The Nova Scotia Utility and Review Board has approved councils application to reduce from twelve members down to 10.

Mayor Don Downe says they worked hard to find the number that would strike the right balance.

“Some had it down to eight,” he says. ” The smaller the easier, in some ways, to work but the larger gives better coverage for the residents and better imput.”

Downe says some electoral boundaries will need to move to accommodate the downsize.

He says the changes won’t come into effect until the municipal election next fall.
