RCMP Promote Motorcycle Safety During Month of May

With nice weather here, may folks will be jumping on their motorcycles and hitting the road to do some riding.

But riders are reminded to think ahead about safety prior to hitting the road because throughout the month of May, Nova Scotia RCMP will be placing their focus on Motorcycle Safety.

“When it warms up, I think the inclination is really to just go for it and it’s important to think a couple of steps ahead of time to make sure that you’re properly prepared to be on your bike,” says RCMP Corporal, Jennifer Clarke.

The first thing riders should do is ensure all safety gear is up to par.

“So your helmet is not expired, that’s a very important thing to check, and that your gear like your jackets and things like that are adequate to protect you in the event of a crash,” notes Clarke.

RCMP officers will be out on the roads and highways looking for infractions and ensuring motorcycle riders are enjoying the road safely.
