Privateers, Municipality Reach Two-Year Deal To Use Queens Place

The Liverpool Privateers Junior ‘B’ hockey team will continue calling Queens Place Emera Centre home.

The hockey club and the Region of Queens Municipality have entered into a two-year agreement.

That means the Privateers will continue to use the facility until the end of 2018.

Owner Jim Bottomley says he’s happy to stay in Liverpool.

“We’re playing in one of the best facilities in our league, fan support has been great. We’re really looking forward to having an agreement for another two years and bringing a title to Liverpool.”

The club averages between 300 and 600 fans for games, which Bottomley says is best in the league.

“The way the community and the town has embraced us has been unbelievable.”

Bottomley says the deal allows the team to focus next on bringing a championship to Liverpool.

Tryouts begin in late August with the season opening in mid-September.
