The Nova Scotia Barristers’ Society lost in Appeals Court Tuesday.
They were appealing a Nova Scotia Supreme Court decision to admit graduates of Trinity Western’s proposed law school to the bar.
The society objected to admitting Trinity graduates based on a covenant that all students must sign.
The covenant prohibits numerous legal activities such as obscene language, drunkenness, gossip, and sexual activity outside of the marriage of one man and one woman.
The society says the covenant amounts to discrimination.
The Appeals court ruled that Trinity isn’t bound by Nova Scotia’s Human Rights Act because it is based in British Columbia.
This decision clears another hurdle for Trinity Western as they seek to establish their Law school.
