Liverpool: School Community ‘Victimized’ By Playground Fire

The principal of a Liverpool elementary school says an act of vandalism has left the school community feeling victimized.

A section of playground equipment at Dr. John C. Wickwire Academy was significantly damaged on October 31 by fire.

Charles Williamson says it’s a life lesson opportunity for the kids.

“The kids have moved past it but it’s a visual reminder when they go out daily that they see that somebody has taken something that was theirs.”

Williamson says notices were sent home to parents, letting them know about the incident.

He calls it a senseless act of destruction and questions why someone would do it.

Queens RCMP have received several tips from the public but no arrests have been made.
