A holiday fundraiser is helping to put shoes on the feet of kids in need.
Shoes For Kids supports families who can’t afford that second pair of shoes children need for school.
Janet Mason and Crissy Stubbs started raising money to buy shoes for kids fifteen years ago.
“When you’re a single mother or financially in trouble, two pairs of sneakers are hard to come by,” said Mason.
Mason and Stubbs will be selling 14-inch Holiday wreaths with a decorative bow for $25. All of the proceeds will go to support Shoes For Kids.
“An anonymous donor has allowed us to buy shoes at a discounted rate,” said Mason.
Last year, they provided 103 pairs of shoes for kids from Bridgewater to Mahone Bay to Lunenburg.
Ruth-Anne Wicher, owner of Caico-Mae Clothiers in Lunenburg is hosting an opportunity to give to the cause from 1-5pm Saturday, November 21.
For the second year, customers can donate to the cause by buying a decorative bow. There will be live music, snacks and discounts on footwear throughout the store.
“People in the community are generous,” said Wicher. We raised $400 to buy shoes last year.
This year, they’re hoping to better that total.
