New Conflict Resolution Centre Turns To Crowdfunding To Raise Money

The Community Dispute Resolution Centre is $5,000 short of being able to open its doors.

The non-profit organization has received financial support from several organizations and municipalities, but still needs a little bit more.

So, they’ve started a crowdfunding campaign.

The centre is designed to help people with non-criminal disputes find a peaceful resolution.

“For example, animals can cause problems between neighbours. Nobody is necessarily breaking the law, if a dog is outside barking for three hours. However, it can be annoying to a neighbour,” said spokesperson, Elisabeth Bailey.

“We will have trained mediators, who will contact both parties in the dispute and offer our service.”

The Centre will run out of the South Shore Community Justice Society in Bridgewater and if all goes well, they could be ready to take cases later this fall.
