People in Mahone Bay Are Hoping To Save Their Shoreline

People in Mahone Bay are working to save their eroding shoreline.

A second public meeting was held to get ideas from the community about the best way to move forward.

Mayor Joe Feeney says they need to do something before it’s too late.

“Because of what’s been happening for the last fifteen or so years,” he says, “with the gradual rise in sea level, more and more erosion has been taking place.”

The most popular plan would see a gradual incline from the shoreline to the road with large rocks to break the waves.

Feeney says there’s still a long way to go before on-site work will begin.g way to go before on-site work will begin.

The price tag is estimated at more than $2.6 million.
