It’s been a hot topic for over a year – amalgamation.
Municipalities and towns in Lunenburg and Shelburne counties are discussing the option.
So, we wanted to hear from you on the question “Is amalgamation the right answer?”
Susan Jean Feader of Bridgewater said “no.”
Paul Fynes, also of Bridgewater, says “We need more information, not just emotion. Cost savings, representation and how the uniqueness of municipalities will be affected.”
Greg Welsh, also of Bridgewater, said “Five council units in Lunenburg county is wasteful to say the least in this day of fiscal restraint.”
Meanwhile, our online poll on proposed amalgamation in Shelburne was split.
Fifty-one per cent of respondents believe the town and municipality should become one.
