Six Arts Projects In Lunenburg County Receive Funding

The Lunenburg Foundation for The Arts recently handed out their first set of six grants.

Three individuals and three organizations received money to help develop their arts project.

Sheila Woodcock with the Foundation says the submissions were impressive.

“We were delighted with the variety of applications and the suitability of the projects. It wasn’t an easy task for the jury to sort through them.”

Woodcock says they funded projects from $500 to $2,500 from across disciplines.

“They are amounts that enable projects to proceed. All the recipients were very grateful. We hope as we grow and build our base finances, we’ll be able to give out bigger grants.”

To be eligible, applicants had to show they had a specific project in mind, that the project had a public component and a reasonable budget.

The foundation is funded through donations and sponsors.

They have planned fundraising events throughout the year to raise money to continue supporting the arts.
