Bridgewater is looking into adding an audio crossing signal to intersections without one.
Ellen Johnson is legally blind. She says navigating the town without the full use of sight can be dangerous.
“I can’t really make eye contact with the drivers,” she says. “So, that’s a way that there’s sometimes communication that I’m completely missing and I don’t think that’s really safe.”
Johnson says without those audio signals it can be difficult to access places like the mall or King Street shops.
Council doesn’t think they can fix all the intersections at once.
They say they’ll need to prioritize which intersections would make the biggest difference right away.
