You may notice a big police presence in the South Shore schools this week during parent/teacher interviews.
Big Brothers Big Sisters is working with community partners to recruit volunteers for their In-School Mentoring Program.
The RCMP often turns to the organization to help with youth at risk.
Constable Angela MacEachern says now it’s their turn to give back to charity.
“Big Brothers Big Sisters does not have enough volunteers to support all the referrals that we’re making to them,” she says. “So, we’ve decided to help them by trying to recruit volunteers to their program.”
Volunteers must be 19 years of age or older and have an hour to spare once a week.
MacEachern says information booths will be set up in 14 schools in Lunenburg and Queens counties during parent/teacher interviews.
