Serious financial risks need to be addressed before the municipality and town of Shelburne can amalgamate.
Municipal councillors reached that conclusion after speaking on it in their last three meetings.
A financial analysis on potential amalgamation was conducted and indicates the two sides are in different positions.
It suggests at least $9-million is required to maintain the Town of Shelburne’s infrastructure over the next five to eight years.
The study also says the municipality could not afford projects like the medical clinic or expand the industrial park without reducing services or tax rate increases.
The municipality says they look forward to hearing solutions from the town in hopes of continuing down the road towards amalgamation.
