The province is announcing $1.2 million in funding for sexual violence prevention.
Up to $50,000 will be provided to groups who have innovative ideas on how to educate people.
Julie Veniot, Executive Director of the Lunenburg County Sexual Health Centre says sexual violence continues to be an issue in the South Shore.
“Anything we can do to prevent that goes a long way,” she says, “to not only support those who’ve already been victims and survivors of sexual violence but also to prevent it in the first place.”
Veniot says the best part about the grants is that smaller groups, including students, can apply for them.
She says she hopes this will encourage young people to get involved.
