People are getting a chance to hit the ice, even if they don’t own skates.
A storage unit has been built to house “loaner” skates at the Lunenburg County Lifestyle Centre.
The facility teamed up with the United Way, Whynot Build-It, and Vic’s Skate Sharpening on the initiative.
General Manager Kevin Benjamin says it gives everyone a chance to find their stride.
“We have a good range of sizes and the United Way is continuing to collect skates as well, so we should be able to broaden our inventory as things go on.”
There are about 40 pairs for people to use at no cost.
They are available during public skates.
