Riverfest Marks 13th Year in Pine Grove

A spotlight event opens Friday for performers who don’t normally get much stage time.

This is the 13th year for Riverfest on a 50 acre field in Pine Grove, Lunenburg County.

More than 30 acts will perform including Tri City Villains, 7 Mile Stare and Remedy.

One of the organizers, Jonathan Crouse, says those names may not sound familiar to too many people.

“When you see them you know they’re good and after a few years, like over our 13 year history, we’ve had a lot of people perform here that have gone on to do bigger and better things like win Juno awards and perform nationwide and all over the world.”

There will also be a song writers circle, a red neck swimming pool and belly dance.

Crouse says it’s a labour of love.

“I can’t imagine not doing it. When I look back at some of the acts and where they have gone after performing with us, there is a good sense of pride over what has taken place and what Riverfest has done over the last 13 years.”

Crouse says he’s not feeling a bit unlucky for the event’s 13th year.

All money raised after cost is donated to two local charities in the South Shore.
