Prepare For Fall “Back to Routine” Rush

Eating healthy isn’t exactly top of mind for all of us during the summer months, with barbecues, vacations, and drinks on the patio.

But, now that summer is starting to fade, you might be thinking about getting back to a regular routine.

Michelle Reknounas is a personal trainer and says telling someone they need to cut something out is the worst thing you can do, it’s more about portion control.

“Maybe save some treats for one day on the weekend and make it a smaller portion; put the ice cream in a smaller bowl or count out how many chips you’re going to have. Add more foods that don’t come with labels into your diet.”

She says the more satisfied you become with healthy foods the less you tend to feel hungry for junk food.

Reknounas says by August, we notice the summer weight-gain.

She has some food tips to help.

“Make your meals. Prep on Sunday for the week and get yourself a deep freeze and label your tupperwear containers that go in there and date it so you know when it went in.”

Another thing you can start doing is going to bed and waking up earlier to get yourself used to it.

Reknounas adds that it doesn’t need to be a rough routine.

“It doesn’t have to be an hour, 45 minutes tops is fantastic when you’re talking about lifting weights. You don’t want to go any more than 55 minutes because then you tend to be doing damage.”
