Sweeny Lane Residents Concerned About Trail Close to Backyards

Residents on Sweeny Lane in Bridgewater are concerned about a path that will run close to their backyards.
The trail is slated to be put on what’s considered town land but for those who live there it’s an issue of privacy.
Allan May who lives on the street says it’s worrisome.
“It’s really exposed all our yards to everyone and anyone that walks along that path. People can look up and look in our back windows. There are a number of us that have children,” says May.
May also adds residents are upset about the lack of public consultation.
Meanwhile, Mayor David Mitchell says that technically because it’s town land there doesn’t need to be public consultation.
“We want to make sure that residents know that we’re hearing them. We want to be open. It was a no brainer to gather them and do the walk today through there to hopefully put some of their fears at ease,” says Mitchell.
Mitchell has promised residents who live on Sweeny Lane that they will know the detailed design plan when it becomes available in the fall.
