Former Park View Students Assisting New MP In Ottawa

Two of Park View Education Centre’s many alumni are helping the local MP in Ottawa.

Sandy Schembri and Annie Morrison graduated together in 2006 from the Bridgewater school.

Now, they stroll Parliament Hill together as assistants to Bernadette Jordan.

Schembri recalls walking to his car after working late one night.

“And it’s just, boom, parliament center block all lit up and it’s like whoa, this is where I’m going to be working everyday, this is going to be my view everyday to get used to. It’s pretty special.”

Schembri says it a big change but can draw on experience from working with cabinet minister and Lunenburg West MLA Mark Furey.

He’s glad to be part of the first new federal government in nine years.

He says he’s been volunteering with Jordan for a while and wasn’t going to miss the opportunity.
