A 66 year-old man says he will bring lots of energy to his seat on Lockeport town council.
Kent Balish will be sworn-in tonight as a new councillor after winning a by-election August 19.
He feels he can be looked to as a guy who can get things done.
“You have so much to do and then you have to do projects and you have to do them well. We’ll set a high standard and try to reach those.”
Balish has lived in Lockeport for most of his life besides time spent at university and four years working in education in the middle east.
The seat on council opened following the death of Lonnie Townsend.
Balish says one issue he wants to bring forward is creating a second entrance/exit to the island part of Lockeport.
“We need to take the old trestle and turn into a truck road for all the heavy transportation that comes through our little town. We need it as an escape and we also need it as a recreational avenue.”
Balish has worked with community and youth groups and hopes to be a leader within council.
Council will meet at 6 p.m.
