Truro MLA Runs For NDP Leadership

One of the candidates running for the Nova Scotia New Democrat Party Leadership is already looking towards the next provincial election.

Lenore Zann is currently the MLA for Truro, Bible Hill, Millbrook, and Salmon River.

But she has her eye on the premier’s chair.

“A female premier would definitely change things,” she says. “We think differently. We’re more compassionate, I think, towards the people and trying to nurture people, I think, and that’s what I’m all about.”

Zann says she’s not discouraged by the NDP’s small numbers.

She says Nova Scotians are ready for a change and she hopes to offer them a positive alternative.

A new leader will be announced at the Leadership Convention weekend Feb. 27 and 28.
