On Sunday, a legacy of one of Canada’s greatest citizens will continue.
The Terry Fox Run will be held in a few locations in our region.
It’s been 37 years since Fox began the Marathon of Hope for cancer research.
In Woods Harbour, the run has been resurrected after a one year absence.
Organizer Gail Goreham says Fox was a big inspiration for her.
“Anybody who would be in that condition and give up that much time and effort to help other people is someone to be admired. I’ve always admired him and I’ve always gone in the run.”
Registration is at 1pm at the Woods Harbour ballfield with distances of 10k, 5k and 1k.
A run will also be held in Clark’s Harbour starting at 1 at Town Hall.
Barrington Recreation Director Anna Kenney says Fox was an extremely brave person.
“In one of his quotes, he said even though he may not be able to finish it, it must go on. It certainly has because this is the 37th year it has taken place.”
In Tusket, the first Terry Fox Run in 13 years will start at 11:30am at the Ste. Anne du Ruisseau Church parking lot.
