A local effort aims to keep kids spinning their wheels.
Lunenburg County United Way is once again collecting bicycles for their Bikes for Kids campaign.
Each year roughly 60 children who otherwise wouldn’t have a bike get to pick one out.
Coordinator Michael Graves says the entire community works together to make it happen.
“We have a group of volunteers. The O’Regan’s Subaru cycling team, last year we just engaged NSCC diesel students to help out, and for a couple of years Chester Area Middle School students have also been helping out.”
Graves says they then work with local resource centres to get the bikes into the kid’s hands.
“Certainly, when you see the smiles on the kids faces in June, you know you’ve got a winner.”
Bikes can be dropped off until November 5 at centre court of Bridgewater Mall.
