Syrian families arriving in Nova Scotia come with a unique set of health concerns.
Dr. Timothy Holland is with a clinic for refugees in Halifax.
He says finding doctors to provide the care they require will be a huge challenge for the South Shore.
“If it comes down to it,” he says, “those patients could come to Halifax and be seen at the primary Transitional Health Clinic for Refugees. I expect that’s going to become the norm, but time will tell.”
Holland says sponsorship groups need to be aware of the difficulties ahead.
He says creating a healthcare strategy is a key step in helping refugees to start their new lives.
