A dismal budget update prompted the Nova Scotia government to set a wage pattern.
The idea is to cut labour costs with a wage package for 75-thousand public sector employees.
If proclaimed, the bill would set a wage freeze in the first two years, one percent increase in the third, 1.5 percent at the start of the fourth and .5 percent on the last day of the fourth year.
The legistion would take wages off the table, but unions will be still be able to negotiate working conditions.
The Public Service Sustainability Act continues to be debated in the Legislature.
